AECT STANDARD 5
Research

Candidates explore, evaluate, synthesize, and apply methods of inquiry to enhance learning and improve performance.

The three artifacts that demonstrate mastery of AECT Standard 5 are final project papers completed over the course of the LDT program. The artifacts are linked immediately below, followed by the sub-standards, and a summary of how these artifacts demonstrate the sub-standards.

Artifact S5-A Fall 2019 | EME 6055 Current Trends in Instructional Technology

 Augmented Reality in K-12 Learning

Artifact S5-A is a PDF of my final paper for this class.

S. 5.1. Theoretical Foundations: This artifact considers past educational research and vision (Collins and Halverson; Ivan Illich) as well as constructivist and situated learning theories in formulating a vision of a future ‘classroom’ that uses an augmented reality app to situate and educate children in their wider community.

S. 5.4. Ethics: The paper and references follow APA 7 format and all sources are cited appropriately.

ID skills learned include assessing characteristics of the target audience and setting, selecting instructional media, and recommending instructional strategies.

Artifact S5-B Fall 2019 | EME 6347 Digital Media and Learning

Social Media Addiction Research and Status as a Mental Health Disorder

Artifact S5-B is a PDF of my final paper for this class. It is a mini-literature review of research into social media addiction.

S. 5.2. Method: The paper demonstrates research methodologies in collecting primary data (numbers and types of peer-reviewed research articles) and performing a literature review.

S. 5.4. Ethics: The paper and references follow APA 7 format and all sources are cited appropriately.

Artifact S5-C

Artifact S5-C Spring 2021 | EDF 6481 Foundations of Educational Research

Draft Research Proposal: Transition from an In-Person to a Hybrid Remote/In-Person Curriculum in a Physical Therapy Doctorate Program During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Student and Faculty Perspectives

Artifact S5-C is a PDF of my final paper for this class.

S. 5.2. Method: This paper is a draft research proposal for a qualitative case study. The issue under investigation is how students and faculty in a doctorate program navigated and experienced the forced transition from in-person to hybrid remote/in-person classes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

S. 5.3. Assessing/Evaluating: The paper evaluates various survey instruments and proposes using a Qualtrics survey, a measurement scale survey, and in-person interviews, and analyzing the resulting data using established tools.

S. 5.4. Ethics: The paper and references follow APA 7 format and all sources are cited appropriately. Additional ethical considerations are the element of human-subject research, and confidentiality.
